This impressive site contains all the features required of a modern racehorse training establishment. Two all weather gallops, an indoor school, and a well laid out schooling ground. Somewhat uniquely, Kings Ride has its own gallops, which avoid the need to walk horses through public roads to shared gallops and queuing for a turn, this also allows John to work privately with horses to ensure they’re not getting set alight by the local traffic etc.
The stables are carefully managed to keep the right balance between number of horses and training facilities. Kings Ride is located in rural Hertfordshire on the outskirts of Royston, with easy access to many local tracks such as Newmarket. The nearby A1(M), M1 and M11 motorways provide access to the more distant courses.
The stables can house up to 90 horses, but in practice, John limits the number of horses to a maximum of 60. In this way, he can give each horse his personal attention and make sure each horse receives the proper training programme, and that no stone is left unturned.
